On My Easel

Tribute to Short Time Me

I drew this with inspiration from a friend’s poem. I set out with an ear planted to the ground with a gauged-sized time-portal piercing. The timepiece is representative of that portal, an overseer of her space and time. The woman looking in the direction of the portal is peering into the distance. She can be reflecting or projecting – that’s up to the viewer’s interpretation. She is firmly rooted – that is her in the tree. She is long-lived and strong. Her hair moves in the breeze with the clouds as they are ever shifting like sand. The flowers planted at her roots are short-lived like many things in our lives that come and go. I am looking forward to painting this at some point in the future.

Today’s the poet’s birthday – so I send her this tribute!
